Mission To reach out to our community and create awareness about the hunger crisis and the many needs our world is facing. To further educate the community on health and nutrition in their everyday lives, unite as a culturally diverse community in recognition of hunger, homelessness and malnutrition as an international concern, while creating an immediate focus locally. Who We Are It started with an 8 year old boy by the name of Casidy Sterner, and his father Ewell Sterner who volunteered at the local food bank and rescue mission in San Diego, California. Casidy asked "how can this be? What can we do to help more?" From there Hunger at Home was born, Ewell Sterner was then the Area Director of Food and Beverage for Hilton Hotels and he found an amazing group of people to come together and share the passion of 'people helping people'. Together the team created Hunger at Home, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and enlisted 26 Hilton Hotels as Donation Partners and 2 local charities (San Diego Food Bank and Network for a Healthy California) as the first Charity Partners.
What We Do Hunger at Home partners with convention centers, hotels, resorts, stadiums and entertainment venues to donate surplus food under the Bill Emerson Act to soup kitchens and other charities to feed those in need. Year to date we have donated over 2 million meals in the past 20 months, Additionally, we host events for our charity partners. donate used amenities, china, glassware, bed sheets, and much more. Hunger at Home also proudly assists our charity and nonprofit partners with job placement and equipment needs.
Hunger at Home relies entirely on the generosity of it's donors,
